Got a parking ticket? Don’t worry because we have good news that will surely inspire you. If you’re a resident of Muncie, Indiana, you could get out of that annoying ticket by donating cat supplies to a shelter as alternative payment for parking tickets.
This wonderful program was created by Muncie Animal Care and Services and the Muncie Police Department. It allows citizens pay their fines by helping abandoned kitties with cat supplies (food, litter, wet/pate canned food, beds, blankets) instead of paying with money.
“Being here is just an overwhelming need, you can see it immediately for the animals,” Jami Brown of the Muncie Police Department said in a video included in the Facebook post. “They need paper towels, litter and food. The need is there.”
According to Muncie Animal Care and Services‘s post on Facebook, people may bring their supplies to the Chief’s office, located at City Hall, or directly to the shelter located at 901 W. Riggin Road, Muncie. “The dollar amount of all the donations must be equal to the amount of the parking ticket.”
“We are incredibly grateful for the the support we receive from the community, and this is such a wonderful opportunity to help your local shelter. Thank you to the Muncie Police Department for putting this together.”
Thanks to this heart-warming solution, the shelter could help create a more comfortable life for our furry friends and find them a forever home. Besides, this idea can soothe people’s frustration when getting tickets and paying their fines.
Although this program ran for just one week, nobody can deny that it’s a good initiative to help out shelters. We hope that the parking ticket initiative can be used again in India, and more cities should adopt this idea to help the homeless animals and the shelters who care for them as well.
