Meet Elena Alekhina a brave, radiant and talented artist from Saint Petersburg, Moscow, who has a passion for porcelain dolls. She often creates realistic dolls from papier-mâché and printed fabrics. She started from portraits of Salvador Dali and Frida Kahlo then moved to animal toys.
She creates small cats and dogs wearing Russian costumes and photographs them against the backdrop of Peter and Paul Fortress, Kazan Cathedral and Fontanka River and Griboyedov canal.
“I think the doll brings together painting, sculpture, jewelry, costume, simulation, skill, everything that I love and I try to reflect the vision of beauty, my perception of the world in my creation,” she says.
“Today, creativity can or should be strange,” said the artist.
