Wayside Waifs is a nonprofit humane society and charitable animal shelter in Kansas City, Missouri whose purpose is to place adoptable companion animals in responsible homes. Last weekend, the shelter held an adoption event in hopes of finding more forever homes for all of the animals at the shelter. By the end of the event, there are 203 animals including dogs, cats, and even a guinea pig had were taken home that day. Sadly, there was still one dog left who could not find his family and he was left all alone in the shelter.
His name is Kenny, he was transferred to Wayside Waifs from the Louisiana SPCA due to overcrowding. According to volunteers, he is a sweet, goofy dog and he absolutely loves running around, playing and making friends. I don’t know why he’s the one who somehow got overlooked. We cannot imagine how sad it must have been for him to watch his canine friends were happily snuggled up in their forever homes, while he was left behind.
“Kenny is a fun, friendly and happy dog,” Casey Waugh, communications and annual giving manager at Wayside Waifs said. “He’s definitely a people dog! Yesterday a volunteer took him on a field trip. The volunteer described him as ‘a dream.’ They went to get ice cream, they visited a nearby park/lake where Kenny waded in the water, then they stopped by a local pet store where he became friends with everyone who worked there.”
While shelter workers at Wayside Waifs are sad for Kenny that he was the only dog not adopted, Kenny hasn’t seemed to to be too bothered, because his shelter friends showered him with tons of love and affection while he continues to wait for a loving home.
All he needs now is a family who loves him and helps him show his strong and energetic nature. He would do best in a home that does not have any small children present and can take him on long walks and running around with him whenever possible.
