Cat Gets Her Own Small Praying Rug So She Can Join Her Family’s Prayer Time

Tofu is a rescued cat who is living with her owner, Mohammad Fahmi in Indonesia. She was rescued from the streets when she was just a few months old. Unfortunately, the person who had found the cat couldn’t keep her and give her a home. That is the reason why Fahmi decided to adopt her, and she’s now an important and loved member of the family.

“I convinced my mom to let Tofu stay,” Fahmi told The Dodo. “The whole family didn’t really like pets, but now everyone is super into Tofu.”

Just like other cats, Tofu is incredibly curious and mischievous. She loves to be involved in whatever’s going on around her and her family. She also loves to express her love for the family, so she constantly wants to be surrounded by all family members all the time, no matter what they are doing.

Normally, Fahmi’s family goes to the mosque five times a day in order to pray. But unfortunately, due to the coronavirus pandemic, they can’t do that and have to stay indoors. For this reason, they decided to start to praying at home together instead. Every time they start praying, Tofu immediately joins them.

“Tofu always loves when our family members are gathering in one spot, so whenever me and my dad go to pray together, she joins and just sits or disturbs us,” Fahmi said.

However, this behavior becomes distracting for everybody while praying, so they decided to give her a smaller version of their prayer rug to hang out on – and it totally worked (at least most of the time).

“Lately, she started to understand that the small rug is for her so she doesn’t disturb the others, that took a while,” Fahmi said. “That was a travel rug (adults use it only to cover the part where our face touches the ground), but we rarely use it anyway, might as well use it for Tofu.”

Tofu loves gathering with her family whenever they pray. In her mind, it’s a time when the family could get to be together, and that’s the most important thing for her.
