In 2012, a group of neuroscientists examined findings about neurological substrates in human and non-human animals and finally declared that animals have consciousness and emotions. Animals can also feel and express emotions like fear, sadness, anger, jealousy, and embarrassment. They’ve even got a sense of humor and the ability to laugh.
