10+ Baby Elephants That Will Instantly Make You Smile

Elephants are the largest land animals on Earth which we all know and love. They have characteristic long noses, or trunks; large, floppy ears; and wide, thick legs. Elephants are grayish to brown in colour, and their body hair is sparse and coarse. They are found most often in savannas, grasslands, and forests but occupy a wide range of habitats, including deserts, swamps, and highlands in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Asia.
One of the joys of studying forest elephants in the field is being able to watch baby elephants. Perhaps it is because elephants are so large that the miniature form of a baby is so arresting. Elephant babies weigh about 105 kilograms (232 pounds) at birth. They can stand up and move around almost immediately, which allows the mother to roam around to forage, and is essential to avoid predation.
Researchers have been captured many magical moments in the field, both endearing and amusing. Scroll down to enjoy our favourite baby elephants below. Don’t forget to share this with anyone who might need a few floppy ears to help them get through today.
