Most of us are staying home in an attempt to protect ourselves and limit the spread of coronavirus. But being stuck at home can lead to boredom. Understanding this problem, police in Mallorca, Spain, came up with a great idea to entertain quarantined residents and help them keep high spirit during lockdown. They decided to surprise residents with music in the streets.
A resident named Tracy Annette captured the heartwarming footage and shared it on Facebook. The video quickly went viral with thousands praising Spanish police for helping residents raise spirits at such a difficult time.
The video shows police officers singing and dancing on the streets of Majorca, providing residents with music and positive vibes. “The police might be very strict here in Mallorca about keeping us in, but they are doing their best also to break our boredom,” Annette captioned the video.
You can watch the incredible moment below:
In the video, two police cars can be seen driving down the residential street before five police officers get out of the vehicles. One of the officers brings out a guitar and shouts: We’ve come to sing!’
The officer then sings Joan Petit – a common Catalan children’s song and traditional dance while the other four officers clap and dance around in circles. Residents soon joined in with the singing, clapping along and waving from the balconies.
The police officer then concludes his short performance by departing to more applause and telling residents to stay strong. According to local reports, the police department plan to continue singing to residents in other areas.
One person described the scene: “This made me cry and I’m still working out why. The people. All of them. All of you. Scared but being brave. The front liners. The sick and the dying. The world we knew, changed so dramatically and so quickly.”
We hope that people can find a way to connect with one another throughout the difficult lockdown period.
