Lilo is a unique Husky dog who loves to nurse and take care of homeless animals, especially kittens. That’s the reason why she decided to become a surrogate mom to many rescue kittens her family brings in.
Huskies are known for their intense prey drive, so it’s uncommon for the breed to be friendly with small animals. However, unlike other huskies, Lilo is very sweet and gentle with kittens as if they are her own puppies.
Rosie is one of her babies, who was originally found homeless on the street at about 2 weeks old. The little kitten was so weak and sick that she couldn’t take more than a few steps without becoming breathless.
“She almost did not make it through the first night…Even with round the clock care. She was lethargic and limp. So we decided to go out on a limb and let her cuddle extensively with Lilo,” Lilo’s family says on Instagram.

We finally achieved our dream of 10k! Thank you to @cats_of_instagram @huskies for the recent features! Hello to all our new followers!☺️???????? We are a family of two huskies: Lilo and Infinity, and several kitties: Misty the polydactyl rescue, and Rosie the most recent foster. Lilo acts as surrogate mommy to many of our rescues, so I hope our Instagram brings you a little bit of sunshine everyday☀️???? We also have bunnies that will make the occasional appearance????
Thankfully, the plan worked, and the two fell in love with each other immediately. Lilo kept Rosie under her wing and cared for her all night. It was clear that Rosie pulled through, in part because of Lilo’s love and care.
Although Lilo raises her own huskies with kittens and they get along well, she still watches them very carefully. Look at this perfect pack! What an adorable pack!
“A mother love overcomes all limitations, even species limitations!”
