We are sure that you still remember Tardar Sauce, the Grumpy Cat who is famous for her permanently “grumpy” appearance. Thanks to her adorable scowl, she became an Internet sensation and garnered the attention of millions of admirers worldwide.
Sadly, Grumpy Cat passed away due to complications from a urinary tract infection this spring. Her owners announced her death on social media, with a post celebrating how her unique appearance “helped millions of people smile all around the world – even when times were tough.”
The world mourned when she crossed the rainbow bridge and went to heaven. However, her spirit will continue to live on through her family and her fans everywhere. And now, months after her death, her memory is being honored on a street corner in Milwaukee by a group of local artists and we think it’s wonderful!
Schuster Metals is one of several businesses in the area to take part in the East Tosa mural project in July 2019. This business asked the artists to tag the wall of their building as a way to bring color to their old street corner.
“We wanted to put some art on our building,” Sam Essak, co-owner of Schuster Metals said. “This summer in mid-July we gave a group some blank walls and they had this graffiti party. … I was out of town and I came back and Grumpy Cat was there.”
The building-sized memorial of Grumpy Cat done by the Chicago-based muralist team It’s Mathematical, is shown Wednesday, August 28, 2019. The team has brought more than just Grumpy Cat art to Milwaukee this summer.
Grumpy Cat may be gone, but she’s definitely not forgotten and her memory will live on in this Milwaukee mural. We make sure that you always see reminders of this sweet girl with the cutest little permanent scowl.
