Meet Seattle’s celebrity dog, a black lab/mastiff mix named Eclipse, who has earned international attention after a story about her daily trips to the park went viral. Seeing a dog take public transportation with its owner isn’t uncommon, but if you ever see Eclipse riding the bus, her owner, Jeff Young, won’t be with her. That’s because this smart pup knows how to ride the bus all by herself.
Of course, Eclipse hasn’t always been this independent and self-sufficient. Eclipse has ridden the bus enough times to know exactly where she needs to get off. One day, Jeff Young was taking her to the park, and while waiting for the bus, he lit a cigarette. He was taking too long, and Eclipse didn’t have the patience to wait. She got on, and the bus took off without her owner. Jeff followed behind on the next bus, and his smart dog got off at the right stop.
In King County, Seattle, Eclipse should be on a leash, and it is up to the discretion of the transit drivers if they allow dogs onto the bus. Eclipse has made friends with any of the drivers, and a lot of passengers smile when they see her get on board. When it’s her stop, the black Labrador jumps down the stairs, excited for playtime at the park.
The only question we’re wondering about is whether Eclipse needs to pay the fare when she rides the bus! Watch the video below and please ‘SHARE’ to pass on this story to a friend or family member
