Nala is a shelter cat who had a hard time finding a forever home. After waiting for too long, she came up with a unique way of getting noticed. She smiles at everyone she encounters in the shelter, hoping someone will adopt her and bring her home.
A good Samaritan in the Netherlands found Nala when she was pregnant. She was in labor but had difficulty giving birth. Thankfully, the good person rushed her to a veterinary hospital, where she had an emergency c-section. She gave birth to two kittens, but sadly, only one of them survived.
Dierenbescherming, an animal protection group in the Netherlands, hosted the cats so they could get a chance at a better life. In the period of a few weeks, the kitten grew to be a healthy, independent young cat. The kitten has moved on to his forever home, and Nala also loves being around people in a safe environment.
Nala always appears to be smiling because she has a cleft lip. She also requires a special diet due to a skin condition. “She gets hypo-allergenic food and is doing much better. She might always need this special food,” Ineke Kamps, a volunteer of the shelter, told Love Meow.
Everyone who visits the shelter finds a little bit of love from Nala. When she sees a visitor, she feels excited and starts to meow. If they sit with her, she will rub up against them and greet them as her good friends.
“The perfect home for her would be a house with a (fenced) garden, with humans who are at home a lot and who don’t have a problem with her special diet,” Ineke said. “She is okay being placed with other cats, but will need individual feeding.”
The adorable cat Nala is still looking for her forever home, so we hope that someone will love her and give her a forever home. Until that time, we are sure that she will smile at everyone who comes to visit the shelter.
