Meet Nayan Shrimali and Vaishali Chudasama, who are paper-cut artists based in India. They took up the challenge (365 Days of Miniature) of creating 365 miniature paper birds for a year, with each one from a different species.
All the artworks are hand-cut without using any kind of magnifying tool. Each layer is precisely hand-cut on paper and painted to the exact shade of the bird before assembling them into the final look. It requires the “utmost precision” because of the size of the work, which measures around an inch from head to tail.
Although it may seem that their miniature creations are easy to make, the truth is that every artwork takes 4–8 hours to finish and depends on the details of the feathers and colors. The artists say, “We enjoyed each bird every day and learned a lot about birds and their nature while making them.”
