Man Rescues Dog From Slaughterhouse, And She Can’t Stop Hugging Him

Did you know about the dog meat trade in Southeast Asia and the restaurants in Cambodia that serve dog meat? Because of this, many meat farms are essentially slaughterhouses. It is disgusting and upsetting. Thankfully, some humans are on a mission to rescue dogs who are about to meet this horrific fate. One, in particular, is Michael Chour, who is the founder of The Sound of Animals, a group that saves dogs from the meat trade in Southeast Asia. He has become an advocate of the fight against dog consumption and has seen quite a bit of success in rescuing some dogs slated for slaughter.

When Chour encountered a dog slaughterhouse in Cambodia, he negotiated with the owner of the meat farm and was able to save 17 dogs that day. One of them was Sweety. The little dog shrank into the farthest corner of her cage. She’d seen what happened to other dogs inside her cage. People had pulled them out by their necks and killed them for their meat. At some point, it would be her turn. Michael fell in love with Sweety that day. As her rescuers, they formed an unbreakable bond. So much so that she could not stop hugging Michael when he embraced her. He decided to keep her and nurture that beautiful bond.

All of the dogs were moved to a temporary shelter in O Smach, Cambodia, where they would have their health assessed before being moved to a large dog shelter run by The Sound of Animals in Ban Kruat District, Thailand. We are so grateful for Chour, his vision, and all the hard work he puts into saving dogs just like Sweety. Thank you, Chour, for your passion and compassion. Your acts of kindness to dogs are extraordinary.

“All dogs have the right to a life of happiness, but some of them touch my heart more than others,” Chour said. “She is one of them.”
