Donkeys may have been man’s beasts of burden for thousands of years, but they are gentle and sweet creatures and have hearts of gold. So, let’s meet Harriet, a donkey in Ireland who likes to serenade passersby with her operatic singing.
A little over a year ago, a man named Martin Stanton chanced upon Harriet when he was strolling the countryside near his house in Ireland. From the first moment, Stanton was smitten, and it was then that he decided to introduce himself by gifting Harriet a treat, and they became instant friends. From there, a beautiful friendship began to blossom.
Since that first encounter, Martin visited Harriet often over the next year, and each time he visited, he brought her treats. He’s even taken the time to meet Harriet’s owners, whom he describes as “really lovely people.”. Harriet loved the carrots, bread, and other treats Martin brought her. So, she did something amazing—she sang opera to him as if to say thanks for all the treats.
